Douglas E. Cramer, ABOC, NCLE
Board Certified Optician,
Contact Lens Examiner,
A professional optician since 1982, Doug has worked in all aspects of the optical field. These previous experiences in Opticianry, Optometry and Ophthalmology are the foundation on which Michigan Optical was founded. Extensive contact lens training at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and ophthalmic medical optics at Baylor College of Medicine - Houston, has enabled Doug to fit even the most complicated contact lens cases. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Opticianry and National Contact Lens Examiners, Professional Registered Opticians, Fellow of National Academy of Opticianry, Member of Opticians Association of America, Current member and past Board of Director for the Opticians Association of Michigan, Chairman of the Board, City of Walker DDA.
Doug has been married for over 35 years to Lori. they have three sons and two grand-children. They reside in Grand Valley with their two cats, Fonzie and Angel.
Zachary J. Boeskool, OD
Dr Boeskool joined Michigan Optical in 2016, a West Michigan native, he attended Grand Valley State University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science in 2009. He then attended Ferris State University, graduating as a Doctor of Optometry in 2013. Having spent time in a variety of clinical settings, from a Veterans Affairs hospital in South Carolina, to a specialty contact lens practice in Detroit, as well as private and commercial practices, he is well versed in ocular disease management and treatment, pediatrics, and has a special interest in soft contact lens fittings and corneal disease management.
Our eye care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye works as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision, many of which do not always have obvious symptoms. We know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old. We understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses, both as eyeglass lenses and contact lenses. We are skilled at diagnosing and treating most eye diseases including glaucoma, keratoconus, macular degeneration and the ocular effects of diabetes.
Lori D. Cramer
Lori joined Michigan Optical in 2015 after spending 16 years as inventory control manager with an international medical device manufacturer. She graduated from Southeastern Academy in Kissimmee, Florida and attended Webber College in Babson Park, Florida. She provides customer service, inventory, financial and office management along with providing technical tasks for our patients. She is well versed in our imaging services, including Perimetry, Digital Retinal Photography and Corneal Topography. Lori also helps our patients select the proper eyeglass frames and lenses for fit, function and style.
Jess joined our team in 2012. She previously graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. She uses her diverse background in business to assist us in maintaining our daily office operations. Jess is primarily responsible for scheduling appointments, answering phones and patient data entry. She is the first contact most people have with our office. Behind the scenes she manages insurance benefits, finances and maintaining patient confidentiality. Jess is available at all times to answer questions or direct you to the right professional that can assist with your eye care needs.
Optical/ Lab Technician
Brandon joined Michigan Optical in 2012. He performs many tasks in the office. His primary responsibility making the eyeglasses in our on-site lab. He produces a majority of our prescription eyewear. Additionally he assists patients with selecting frames, lenses and options. Adjustments and repairs keep him busy as well. He also handles most of the maintenance of the equipment and building.
